In the light of Jesus, we learn to shine
Keeping Children Safe in Education is important for us and Children’s health and wellbeing is of paramount importance to us. If we suspect abuse - which includes non-accidental injury, physical neglect, emotional abuse and or sexual abuse we will report it to the authorities. The school has carried out criminal record checks on all staff members and volunteers within our school. From June 2013 the school expects all new staff to complete a Disclosure and Barring service check and bring the relevant paperwork to the Headteacher as soon as possible. All contracts are conditional on a clear Disclosure and Barring check.
Volunteers at the school will be expected to bring proof of identification and will be given a safeguarding briefing before starting work in school. We ask that all volunteers turn mobile phones to silent when in school and do not refer to them when working with children.
Mrs Nathalie Hooper is the online safety lead and has completed the Suffolk County Council online safety training course. Our school website has links to sites that offer advice and information about online safety. We recommend that you visit these sites regularly for the most up to date advice.
The Child Protection leads are Miss Leigh Hilton, Mrs Georgina Betts and Mrs Charlotte Ross. The Child Protection Governor is Mrs Jane Hyde.
The staff at the school are up to date with current procedures for keeping children safe in education and everyone is committed to ensuring that this is a high priority for our school. We use the most up to date resources. If you would like support or advice on any child protection issues you can contact any of our staff or our Child Protection leads.
This year all our staff have completed the PREVENT training. They have learned how to identify people at risk of radicalisation and how to report any issues to the authorities. If you suspect a person is at risk of radicalisation or displays extremist views you can talk to Miss Hilton about your concerns. She will help you decide what to do next. Our staff have also completed FGM and GDPR training.
The policies section of this website has more details on keeping children safe.
Any other Safeguarding concerns related to the headteacher can be directed to Mrs Annie Hookway (Chair of governors) at annie.hookway@elmsettschool.co.uk
