Welcome to

Elmsett C of E Primary School.

School Council and Eco Council

The School and Eco councils consist of representative groups of students who have been elected by their peers to represent their views and raise issues with the Senior Managers and Governors of the school.

The School Council is overseen by Mrs Thompson.

The Eco Council is overseen by Mrs Clement and Mrs Hills.

Our Eco Council works closely with Elmsett Eco Group to help our local environment, more information from this group can be found at  https://elmsettecogroup.wordpress.com

The councils meet fortnightly and the children have a chance to express their thoughts, views and ideas about the environment and our school.

If you have any interesting school or eco related ideas please tell your class representative.

Please see our latest letter from our School Eco Council Here

                   Be involved

You can be involved by recycling your crisp packets, batteries, empty medicine blister packets,  ink cartridges and pre-loved school uniform in the collection points in the School Foyer.

There are also collection points for Glass, Books, Paper and Clothes at our recycling centre next to the school office.

Cut your carbon week - Pre-loved clothes sale

The Eco and School council worked brilliantly designing posters, delivering a school assembly on the importance of cutting your carbon,  organising and running a pre loved sale in our school hall.  These sales are now held half-termly.

Water Aid Speakers

In June, two speakers volunteering for WaterAid visited our school to talk about WaterAid and their lifesaving work.  Their passion for WaterAid shined through,  inspiring both staff and children.

Save Our Seas
Children across the school worked brilliantly to create a masterpiece for the Suffolk Show (31st May -1st June) The narwhal will be on display for three days (in all weathers), so the chicken wire was great for securing everything in place.

The Great Big School Clean

In March, we took part in the Great Big School Clean. We gave an assembly to explain the importance of everyone coming together to make a huge difference. In the afternoon, we split into two groups, collecting over the six bags of litter we pledged.

Great Blakenham Energy From Waste facility

We enjoyed visiting the energy-from-waste facility at Great Blakenham, Ipswich. We learnt that the residual waste from homes across Suffolk and businesses generates enough electricity to power 30,000 homes and it's a more environmentally sustainable and cost-effective solution for the county’s waste. They even recycle metals – which are extracted from the ash and used as an aggregate in road building.  We were amazed by the size of the facility, especially the two huge furnaces.
